Purpose
The purpose of this sorority shall be to unite its members in service and in the bonds of sincere and lasting friendship, and to encourage one another in the pursuit of happiness. Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Inc. is a national women’s philanthropic organization dedicated to the advancement of philanthropy and charity, non-sectarian, and promoting welfare for all and fostering the spirit of good fellowship.
History
Five high school students in Muncie, Indiana founded Delta Theta Tau Sorority in 1903. It is one of the oldest sororities of its kind and the oldest non-sectarian sorority in the country. Delta Theta Tau has 120 active chapters nation wide and around 50 alumna associations. The majority of its chapters are in Indiana and the surrounding states. However, there are chapters as far west as California and as far south as Georgia and Florida. Deltas are everywhere!
Communication among Delta’s is their national publication GRIT, published quarterly. Also of interest is “The Diamond Years of Delta Theta Tau’, a 300 page history of the first 75 years of the sorority.
Why join Delta Theta Tau?
Creates a life long bond of friendship. Instills a sense of responsibility to community through philanthropy. Builds leadership skills. Provides an opportunity to be a member of something that is larger than the sum of its parts.
Delta Theta Tau also provides Guidance and Counseling grants and scholarships to members and non-members who are students.
Delta Home Program funds are used to provide financial assistance to members who can no longer live at home and need care provided by living in a licensed care facility and also for members living in their own homes or other situations, who need financial assistance.
